Answers to common Heroes MMO questions: is it free, do you need a download, mobile, classes, max level and how to reach the next map.
Is Heroes MMO free?
Yes. Making an account and playing costs nothing. Gems, the rare premium currency, come from bosses and hidden chests in The Cave. You cannot buy gems yet.
Do I need to download anything?
No. Heroes MMO runs in your web browser at heroesmmo.com/play. Your browser loads the game when you open it, and there is nothing to install.
Do I need an account?
Yes, so the server can save your hero. You only need a username and a password.
Can I play on mobile?
The apps for iPhone and Android are coming soon, they are not released yet. The browser version shows touch buttons on phones and tablets, but the game is an alpha, so expect rough edges there.
What kind of game is it?
A 2D side-scrolling pixel MMORPG with quests, classes, bosses, parties, guilds and duels. It is an alpha web playtest, built by a solo developer.
How many classes are there?
5: Swordfighter, Berserker, Rogue, Lancer and Mage. You choose when you make your hero and cannot change it later, but you can make more heroes. Each class gets a second form from level 15. See the best class guide for help choosing.
What is the max level?
Heroes can currently reach level 30. There are 95 quests on the way there, and new maps are in the works.
How do I reach the next map?
- Waterfall Gorge: the right portal in the Village, open from the start.
- Root Cave: the portal at the far end of Waterfall Gorge.
- The Cave: the ring on the upper ledge of the Village, open from level 1. Depths 2 to 4 unlock as rings near the start of The Cave when you finish the matching quests from Seer Nyra.
- The First Winter: the left portal in the Village. It opens after you beat Morgrath in The Cave.
What are the controls?
A and D move, Space jumps, J attacks, U uses your class skill, E fires the zip rope, H blocks, K dashes, L rolls, F talks and uses portals, I opens your bag, Q your quests and O your friends and party. Keys 1 and 2 drink potions. You can change every key in the settings.
What happens when my hero dies?
You return to the start of the map a few seconds later with full HP and mana. You lose no XP and no gold.
Can I play with friends?
Yes. Send them the link, then click their hero to invite them. A party holds up to 8 heroes who share XP on the same map. You can also found a guild, whisper and duel.
Which languages does it support?
English, German, French, Korean, Japanese and Chinese.
Can my progress be reset?
It can. Heroes MMO is an alpha, so the terms allow resets of progress, items or accounts where needed.
